It could be a favorite instrument or instruments, Vocalist or Choral Group, Dance Band, or Quartet. It could the music from a wind chime or a natural source like songbirds in your back yard, the sound of a babbling brook, or the singing of a pod of humpback whales.

Quilts for Kids - Quilt Pattern for “Older Kids”

We’d like to provide more quilts for “older kids”, so we’re asking that each member make one block using the Quilt Pattern 1, below. It requires four shades of gray fabrics. Please click on the link for the directions. When your block is finished, please bring it to the guild meeting and give it to Marie. Thank you in advance for your help!

Quilts for Kids AND Quilts of Valor “Inspiration Block”

Happy Blocks for Kids

October 2023 - Here’s the new pattern to make Happy Block’s for kids’ quilts. It’s an 8.5” x 8.5” block. Please DO NOT trim blocks after piecing. Thanks so much!

January 2023 - The Wonky Log Cabin. It’s constructed the same as an ordinary log cabin but the strips are scrappy and can be any width. Start with any size square or rectangle for the center. Piece trips around the center until the block is a big larger than desired. Trim block to size. In the picture, attached, the 3 1/2” square and the block finishes to 10”. “Hint” Use wider strips in the last round which will give you lots of “wiggle room” when trimming.

Wonky Log Cabin

November 2022 - This block is a great way to use up your leftover 2 1/2” strips. Makes a 6”x8” block. The 3 yellow pieces in the block measure 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". Cut 2 background pieces 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" and 2 pieces 2 1/2" x 2".

If you are making a whole quilt with this block, try setting the blocks side by side without sashing for a "stair step" effect . Stair Step 6 x 8 Block
